We have a dedicated team of highly skilled commissioning engineers to provide a truly 'hands-on' test and commissioning service for our clients for all types of equipment including Control and Protection systems and Switchgear.

All Commissioning Engineers employed by SES Ltd have degree qualifications and have many years experience in the power industry both in the UK and overseas. As a unit our Commissioning team are fully authorised to work on most electricity generating, transmission and distribution sites, including National Grid and Scottish Power. Furthermore, our team have recently completed Central Networks training allowing us to undertake projects for an even wider range of utilities. Moreover, the rigorous Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental awareness training our team is provided with on an ongoing and proactive basis ensures that the service we provide is second to none.

All our Commissioning Engineers have extensive training on the latest products from the main manufacturers of substation equipment and we only use the latest automatic computer programmable test equipment, including products supplied by Omicron, GE Programma (Sverker), T&R, Megger, Fluke, Metrahit & Robin.

SES Ltd Commissioning Engineers can offer a full range of testing and commissioning services including the following:

  • Primary injection of CT circuits & protection systems
  • Secondary injection of protection relays & systems
  • CT magnetisation characteristics
  • Pressure testing of Switchgear, cables and busbars
  • Electrical and mechanical function testing of Substation Control and Protection schemes, Switchgear, disconnectors, etc
  • Transformer testing including tap changer and AVC schemes
  • Testing of batteries and battery chargers
